| That was too easy I gather What about this then? "Nobody needs anyone, they don't even just pretend." (Hint: It's from one of the later albums) | |

| I know this, but I can't remember! I'll figure it out soon though, unless someone beats me to it I'm thinking Berlin Trilogy or Scary Monsters and Super Creeps... I'll get it eventually | |

| The song is one of the surprisingly few that Bowie wrote using the cut-ups technique. Bowie is very much associated with this technique, although he ever only used it on a handful of songs, I think. The cut-ups for this song was done by randomizing bits of text on a computer. Unless I am very much mistaking, the song was also covered in the 1997 action Scifi film Starship Troopers (as a live show [not by db] in the graduation party scene). Finally, here's more text (with revealing sentences ***-ed out ). "Toll the bell. Pay the private eye. All's well. 20th century dies. And the prison priests are decent. My attorney seems sincere. I fear my days are numbered. Lord get me out of here. All's well. But *********** All's well But *********** [CHORUS] This is your shadow on my wall. This is my flesh and blood. This is what I could've been. And the wheels are turning and turning. As the 20th century dies." Does this help? | |
